Michael Clarke tops Test batsmen ranking

KARACHI: Michael Clarke has regained the number one spot in ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen. He scored a remarkable 230 in the second Test between Australia and South Africa on Monday.
It was Clarke’s fourth double century this year and earned him 33 rating points. The double century also helped him to jump over Kumar Sangkkara, Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis into the number-one position.
The top-10 remains dominated by South African batsmen despite Australia having the upper hand in the three-Test series so far, with Kallis (fourth), Amla (fifth) and AB de Villiers (eighth) firmly established in the top tier.
Clarke started the year in 20th position and has moved up the rankings by scoring 1,309 runs to date. He first achieved the number-one ranking in August 2009 and then again rushed to the top earlier this year in March-April.
