Latif-Khosa---ISLAMABAD: Governor Punjab Sardar Abdul Latif Khosa on Wednesday said that Kalabagh dam should only be constructed with the consensus of all the four provinces.

 

While talking to the media here at Convention centre on Wednesday, he said Diamer Basha dam project was started after approval by the council of common interests. No dam can be built without the approval of the four provinces and the federation.

 

He said he has prepared a report about the rigging held in the recently conducted by-elections and this will be presented before the Election Commission soon.

 

Khosa said Engineering and Post Graduate students must utilize their capabilities according to the market and the country needs, with special focus on research.

 

He urged the experts in the fields of science and engineering to keep themselves update with the latest innovations due to the rapid progress in science and technology.

 

He emphasized on acquisition of continuous knowledge and asked the graduate to equip themselves with technical and vocational knowledge to play their vital role in the development of the country.

 

The governor said engineering graduates can play crucial role in resolving the issues faced by the country as their technical expertise are required for exploration and utilization of natural resources and minerals.

 

University of Engineering Taxila has earned a huge reputation in terms of providing quality education, he said while urging the nation to work for promoting higher education.

 

He said President Asif Ali Zardari , following the philosophy of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, is committed to expand the access of citizens to education.

 

The provincial governments are also holding efforts for the promotion of education in the country especially women education.

 

The way universities are producing graduates and post graduates, the country will lessen dependency in other countries, making it independent.

 

The governor awarded degrees and distributed the medals among the position holders.

 

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Muhammad Abbas Chaudhry presented the welcoming address and gave detailed view of the university achievement.

 

Provincial Education Minister , Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur rehman, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Javed Leghari, Member provincial Assembly Begum Zill-i- Huma, professors , Vice Chancellors and parents attended the convocation.
