KARACHI: There are many things in life that are downright absurd if not nauseating and it can be easily said that eating dog meat is one of them.
Recently, Aaj TV’s very own Sherry of the show “Target” uncovered a gang, which had been slaughtering dogs for human consumption in Mirpurkhas, Sindh.
Upon raiding the gang behind this shocking act, the police accompanying Aaj TV’s cameraman and crew arrested two individuals while two made their escape taking advantage of darkness.
It may be mentioned that there have been reports that some shop keepers were also involved in selling dog meat.
What needs to be done is that meat should be packed, stamped and inspected by a team of doctors and a proper slaughtering method followed.
Not only that, shop keepers should be provided a licence for their business, and regular checking must be carried out on sale of meat.
To drive the point home, canine cuisine was sent to the doghouse at the Beijing Olympic Games. Dog meat was off the menus at officially designated restaurants at the Games. Tourism officiels asked restaurants and eateries to suggest other dishes to veer consumers away from ordering dishes with dog meat.
