Bollywood stars demand strict action after Delhi gang rape

KARACHI: Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor and among numerous celebrities who have voiced their concern over the rape of a 23-year-old girl in Delhi.
They demanded harsh punishments from the proper authorities with Salman Khan suggesting life imprisonment in the event the death penalty is not a suitable option.
Kareena Kapoor called for the re-examination of current laws on the issue as ‘justice is taking too much time for such heinous crimes’.
Actor/Director Farhan Akhtar tweeted, “Yes we can stoop lower as a people. The Delhi bus gang rape is proof of that. Is justice asleep? I believe swift and severe punishment is the only deterrent. These deviants are not afraid of consequence as it comes too little too late.”
Priety Zinta tweeted, “Right now I'm really disturbed with the #delhirapecase. We all need to stand up 4 each other but intelligently not emotionally.”
Arjun Rampal also tweeted for stricter laws, “New set of laws and more severe punishments are required for these kind of criminals. Rapist should be publicly flogged. No more tolerance.”
