KARACHI: An MQM activist has been killed in a fresh spate of target killings in the PIB Colony area of the city. Fifty-eight year old Yawar Abbas was gunned down by unknown assailants who escaped after the incident.
An angry mob came out on the streets and set fire to 3 vehicles at Teen Hatti afterwards while shops were shut down in the area in protest of the killing.
According to reports, at least 10 people sustained burn injuries when oil tanks of torched vehicles exploded in the incident.
Police and rangers reached the site and cordoned off the area while fire fighters were been busy in their efforts to put the flames out.
The city of 16 million and rising, has been in the grips of violence since the mid-1980s.
