KARACHI: President Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) Syed Irshad Hussain Bukhari on Saturday warned the government that public transport operators might go on strike for indefinite period if recent hike in petroleum prices was not withdrawn.
Talking to PPI on Saturday, he said that final decision would be taken in the meeting of transporters summoned on 4th March, Monday. He said that hike in POL prices would destroy the public transport business.
He said that efforts are being made to persuade the government to withdraw the rise in oil prices.
Bukhari said the transporters are reluctant to raise bus fare, as poor commuters would have to face immense problems. He asked the government to reduce oil prices, immediately to facilitate transporters and commuters.
