Fakhruddin-G-EbrahimISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (Retd.) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim has urged that the army be deployed at polling stations until election results, the media reported on Wednesday.

 

Presiding over a session of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad to formulate administrative and security protocols for the upcoming general elections, Ebrahim said at least one personnel should be deployed at polling booths

 

He said a stable law and order situation during the elections would ensure fairness and transparency in polls.

 

Ebrahim further said that the only way to achieve parliamentary democracy was to Holding fair and transparent elections was imperative to achieving parliamentary democracy.

 

He said, maintenance of law and order is the only hurdle against free and fair elections, and added, political parties will suffer the most if this does not happen.
