"Received 5 lakh 60 thousand procured vaccines yesterday. Another 5 lakhs will arrive tonight," Asad Umar tweeted.
At least 452000 shots of Sinopharm and CanSino vaccine have been provided to Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
"We will be getting bulk vaccine by mid-April from CanSino from which three million vaccine doses can be made," Asad Umar announced.
This is the vaccine in which Pakistan participated in phase 3 trials, which was the first time ever that Pakistan had done so for any vaccine, he added.
As of March 20, China had administered 74.96 million coronavirus vaccine doses, according to Our World in Data, a collaboration between Oxford University and a charity.
The EU's regulator has so far approved four jabs, but only the versions made in the West, meaning drugs such as Covishield have to be approved separately.
According to an official of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), the registration board of the authority had allowed the vaccine, approving the request of AJM Pharma (Pvt) Limited for its emergency use.
