"British Council is committed to the strict implementation of coronavirus SOPs and 'we will monitor them closely'," Mahmood tweeted.
The minister said with regards to AS students, he has asked Cambridge to reconsider the 13-month condition for taking remaining papers considering the extraordinary situation.
"I had received a letter from Christine Ozden, CEO Cambridge requesting that O level/IGCSE exam should be allowed to start from May 10 instead of May 15," the minister tweeted.
After consultation with provinces/stakeholders we have agreed, Mahmood added.
Examinations for nursery till class eight will be held from June 7, while matriculation exams will be held from July 1 till July 15 across the province.
Moreover, Intermediate examinations will be held from July 28 and will continue till August 16.
The education minister was of the view that universities should also asses whether they have the technical ability to conduct exams for all students as no one can be left behind.
Mahmood has said that the decision to hold online exams lies with the universities.
"While I desperately want education to continue the final decision will be on health grounds. Students well being will always be a priority," Shafqat Mahmood said.
The government had decided reopening of schools from class 9th to 12 on January 18.
