He also spelled out his plan as the finance minister to negotiate with the IMF and how he wanted to achieve growth, and stated that the PSDP allocation would be fully utilised.
"Just found out that Dr Hafeez Shaikh has tested positive for Covid-19. I pray for his swift recovery and good health," recently appointed Finance Minister Hammad Azhar tweeted.

The premier added that without justice and rule of law, states disintegrate because once moral authority is lost, deal making (NRO) with the powerful criminals is resorted to.
“We are taking measures to ensure that next Senate elections would be held through the open ballot,” said Imran Khan.
"The Opposition used money to win the Islamabad seat," he said, referring to Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh's surprise loss to former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The finance minister was of the view that the latest agreement would make Pakistan an attractive destination for international investors and gobal capital markets.
Sheikh along with his fellow lawmakers, Azam Swati, Hammad Azhar and others reached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office to submit his nomination papers.
He was confident that the PTI will emerge victorious in the upcoming Senate elections.
The Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry disclosed the development in a series of tweets stating that the party has finalised most of its candidates for the Senate polls.
"From Sindh, Faisal Vawda will contest the election while Saifullah Abro will contest the election for the technocrats seat as the PTI's candidate," the minister tweeted.
Shaikh said that despite the Coronavirus pandemic, the Pakistani economy performed positively, the government distributed financial assistance to the beneficiaries under the Ehsas program and provided a special package for the business community to mitigate the COVID-19 impact.
The ECC granted approval for the renewal of the contract with Tavanir Iran for the purchase of 104MW of electricity subject to vetting by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
