Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that both India and China would initiate the process of withdrawing the deployment of their troops in a phased, coordinated, and verified manner.
China’s defence ministry said frontline troops from the two countries had begun to pull back from the shores of the lake.
"India must not underestimate the resolve of Pakistani nation and the preparedness of our Armed Forces against any ill-conceived misadventure by India," FO spokesperson said.
His comments prompted Beijing to call for restraint at the tense border area in the northern Himalayan region of Ladakh.
India says Chinese troops have intruded across the Line of Actual Control, or the ceasefire line separating the two armies in the high altitude Ladakh region.
