A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed opined that Senate elections would be held under Article 226 of the Constitution through secret balloting.
The SC also said that the Election Commission of Pakistan should use the latest technology to ensure fair and transparent elections.
Issuing a schedule for the Senate elections, set to be held on March 3, the ECP said candidates can file nomination papers with the returning officer on February 12 and February 13.
The Senate polls will see the election of 48 senators.
