Sukkur Barrage closes for traffic due to ongoing renovation

According to chief engineer of Sukkur Barrage, water supply will remain closed to Dadu Canal, NWF Canal, Kirthar Canal, Khairpur East Canal, Khairpur West Canal, Rohri Canal, Nara Canal and its related channels from January 6 to Jan 20.
The decrease in the river water causes water shortage in Sukkur, the major city in upper Sindh on the bank of Indus river.

ECP to conduct by-polls on vacant Sindh, Balochistan seats on Feb 16

The seats fell vacant after deaths of elected leaders.
The nomination papers will be submitted on December 23 and scrutiny will be conducted on January 4, whereas, appeals will be reviewed from January 6 to 14, reads the ECP notification.

Overall 83 people died across the country in past 24 hours out of which 51 fatalities are from Sindh.
The province’s mortality rate remained highest in today’s tally, whereas, the rate of positive coronavirus cases stands at 17.71 pc in the Sindh capital Karachi.
