Pakistan believed to pass in 300,000 tonnes wheat tender

Offers in the tender from the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) which closed on Tuesday were regarded as too high at a time when Pakistan's own grains harvest is starting, a trader said.
Wheat prices have risen since Russia announced grain export taxes to reduce its overseas shipments and cool Russian domestic prices.

Deadline for price submissions is believed to be Thursday, March 4.
The group is seeking 75,000 tonnes of feed wheat in two consignments for delivery between April and June. Another 70,000 tonnes of milling wheat is sought in two consignments for delivery in June.

The group had sought 75,000 tonnes of feed wheat in two consignments for delivery between April and June plus another 70,000 tonnes of milling wheat in two consignments for delivery in June.

That was down from 19.53 million tonnes cleared by the same week last season, the data showed.
EU 2020/21 barley exports had reached 4.65 million tonnes, down from 4.78 million a year ago.

Algeria issues tender to buy milling wheat, traders say

The latest OAIC wheat tender also specified that wheat should be shipped to two Algerian ports, Mostaganem and Tenes.
"The two ports specified are relatively small and this may mean using smaller bulk carriers than usually booked to ship Algerian wheat sales," one trader said.

It was bought from trading house Ameropa at an estimated $270.50 a tonne c&f for shipment in the first half of September.
Three other trading houses participated in the tender, CHS which offered $273.43 a tonne c&f .

Algeria bought about 630,000 tonnes to 660,000 tones wheat in tender

Initial estimates late on Wednesday put the purchase at between 500,000 tonnes to about 660,000 tonnes.
It was mostly believed to have been purchased at between $312 to $313 a tonne c&f, traders said.

The reason was believed to be bad weather with snow in Turkey disrupting transport of participants to the tender meeting

Russia, one of the world's largest wheat exporters, plans to impose a higher export tax on wheat from March 1.
Last year Ukraine's government agreed with traders that wheat exports would not exceed 17.5 million tonnes in the 2020/21 July-June season.

Two other trading houses participated in the tender, CHS which offered $277.97 a tonne c&f and Ameropa which offered $284.93 a tonne c&f.

The tender deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 12. A range of different wheat types is sought for arrival in South Korea in April 1-30, 2021.
