"I am happy Balochistan & former FATA got these two slots in line with my policy of mainstreaming those parts of Pak that have been marginalised or left behind in the past," he tweeted.
"Those votes were cast properly, legally, constitutionally, but seven senators of the Senate of Pakistan were purposefully disenfranchised and Mr. Gillani, despite winning, has still not sat on that seat.”
Sanjrani received 48 votes while Gilani secured 42 votes. However, seven votes were rejected.
PTI has fielded Sadiq Sanjrani and Mirza Muhammad Afridi, while the joint opposition has nominated Yousaf Raza Gillani and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri for post of Senate chairman, deputy.

The premier added that without justice and rule of law, states disintegrate because once moral authority is lost, deal making (NRO) with the powerful criminals is resorted to.
PTI’s legal representative Barrister Ali Zafar, Lawmakers Farrukh Habib and Kanwal Shauzab appeared before the commission and recorded their arguments.
Barrister Ali Zafar claimed that rigging was carried out during the Senate polls through money and party tickets.
“We are taking measures to ensure that next Senate elections would be held through the open ballot,” said Imran Khan.
"The Opposition used money to win the Islamabad seat," he said, referring to Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh's surprise loss to former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
On Wednesday, Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani won the Senate seat from Islamabad, defeating PTI's Hafeez Sheikh.
Qureshi said that the PM had taken the decision to seek a vote of confidence with a view to making it clear as to who is standing with Khan’s ideology and who is not.
The development was made during the meeting between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) delegation and Jamiat Ulema Islam chief over the upcoming Senate elections.
