DIG South Ghulam Nabi Memon has prepared a "shopping centres security and anti-dacoity action plan" whereby watch towers will be set-up in shopping centres and all other bazars to curb the activities of criminals and check dacoities and robberies during Ramazan.
Under the plan, a comprehensive planning has been chalked out for security starting from Ist till end of Ramazan and on Eid-ul-Fitr throughout the Zone.
The plan also envisages secret strategy for Ist to 10th, 11th to 20th and 21st to 30th of Ramazan keeping the rush of people in view so that they could do shopping in peace.
In this regard various areas would be sealed with uniformed and plain cloth police.
The areas covered under the plan include Saddar, Bohri Bazar, Zaibunnisa Street, Empress Market and bazars in the surrounding in Preedy Police station jurisdiction; Jamia Cloth Market and a shopping areas around in Arambagh PS jurisdiction, all bazars and markets in the Kharadar and Mithadar PS jurisdiction, Gul Shopping Center and Jubilee Market in Nabi Bux PS, Tariq Road and all shopping centres in Ferozabad PS, shopping centres and parking lots in the jurisdiction of Boat Basin, Clifton and Defence Police stations.
In order to keep vigil on suspects, dacoits and robbers and to take timely action against them, a network of informers will be laid.
At the watch towers to be set-up at important roads and shopping centres, the police personnel would keep watch with the help of binoculars and in case of spotting of suspected activity, immediately inform the ground force through wireless.
According to DIG the plan would be modified as and when required and in this regard all SSPs, SPOs and SHOs of all the Towns in District South have been issued necessary instructions. In order to check fake personnel, the plain cloth police and those associated with secret network would be allotted secret codes. DIG said that objective of all these measures is to provide a peaceful and hassle free environment to shoppers and shopkeepers.
