Eminent Scholar and educationist, Dr N.A Baloch has said that University of Sindh has developed and adopted a system of teaching, examination and research during eight years, which was initiated by the present Vice Chancellor.
He said that Mazharul Haq Siddiqui is the second Vice Chancellor after Allama I.I.Kazi who has served and developed the University hundred times more to other Vice Chancellors. He was speaking on occasion of get together organised by him in honour of Mazharul Haq Siddiqui in appreciation of his services rendered for higher education in the Country, particularly to University of Sindh at Hyderabad Gymkhana.
The occasion was also attended by a large number of scholars, educationists and intellectuals beside faculty members of the University of Sindh. Dr Baloch said that he remained associated and served the University and worked with the many Vice Chancellors and pointed out that Siddiqi developed the University hundred times more and in academic as well as in infrastructure.
He said that University of Sindh was shifted by Allama I.I.Kazi from Karachi to Hyderabad and established its campus at Jamshoro in a difficult time. He said that at the time of establishment of Campus at Jamshoro it was desert and hilly land and added that now there are three public sector Universities and Jamshoro now is known as educational city and added that Allama Sahib was a man of visionary who selected land with foresee for the establishments of the University. He said that it is a great opportune that Sindh University has seen Siddiqui a visionary man as Vice Chancellor after Allama I.I.Kazi.
Speaking on the occasion Siddiqui said that the University would witness more development during next four-year instead of his last eight years. He said that during eight-year number of facilities were increased for the faculty and students. He said that only the University of Sindh has utilised 100 percent scholarships under faculty development grant allocated by the government for higher education while other Universities utilised only 25 percent scholarships allocated for their faculty development.
He said that during his current tenure efforts will be made for more improvement of quality of higher education in the University and added that a full-fledged quality enhancement cell (QEC) has been established to take measures in this regard.
The occasion was also attended by Akhtar Jabeen Siddiqui, Abdul Hameed Akhund, M. Hashim Leghari, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Hameed Sindhi, Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Dr M.Y.Khuhawer, Dr Kazi Khadim Hussain, Dr Sanaullah Bhutto, Muhammad Ali Deeplai, Dr Qamar Jahan Mirza, Dr Tahmina Mufti, Dr Parveen Shah, Dr Parveen Munshi, Gul M.Umrani, Akthat Ahmed Memon, M.Usman Mangi, Inamullah Shaikh, Arshad Baloch and others.
