Expected increase in prices of POL products: JI submits adjournment motion in Senate Secretariat

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Wednesday submitted adjournment motion in Senate Secretariat against the expected eight percent increase in the prices of petroleum products from November 01. The adjournment motion was submitted by JI Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed under section 74 of the rules and procedures of 1988 of the Senate based on the media reports.
The motion said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has decided an eight percent increase in the petroleum products price from November 01 that sparked serious concerns and anxiety among the people. The JI, through the motion has demanded of the government not to approve the Ogra's proposal and also seek the Upper House of the Parliament guidance to discuss the matter by suspending agenda of the session.
