Administration to take stringent security measures to protect shrines: Gilani due in Multan today
In the perspective of ongoing wave of terror attacks at shrines of saints in different parts of the country, the Multan administration has decided to take stringent security measures to protect shrines of Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam, Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Suharwardi, Hazrat Shah Shams Sabzwari, Hazrat Moosa Pak, Hazrat Bibi Pak-Daman, Hazrat Baba Shah Jamal, Hazrat Bava Safra and others just 24 hours before the arrival of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Who will pay a visit to the shrines on Thursday (October 28) besides visiting the Bahauddin Zakariya University, and sending the Hajj pilgrims off to Jedda through the first direct flight. An alarming situation has emerged after terror attacks at the shrines of Baba Fariduddin Ganj Shakar (Pakpattan), Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (Lahore) and Abdullah Shah Ghazi (Karachi).
Commissioner Multan Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi when asked by this correspondent about the strategy chalked out to counter the wave of terrorism at shrines, said that comprehensive arrangements have been made to protect the holy places. The CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the shrines and the civil intelligence network has been asked to keep an eye on activities of suspicious persons.
