PIA plane crash: Govt committed to bring real facts to light: Sarwar

  • Minister says 94 bodies out of 97 have been identified while the remaining are in the process of identification.

(Karachi) Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar has said the government is committed to bring real facts and and data into light in Pakistan International Airline (PIA) crash incident. He said the initial investigation report will be made public by June 22.

Addressing a media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that that 94 bodies out of 97 have been identified while the remaining are in the process of identification.

He said all the crew members who lost their lives in the ill-fated PIA plane crash hailed from Lahore.

Sarwar highlighted that the government wants to conduct fair and transparent inquiry of the incident and bring real facts into light.

"A compensation of Rs0.10 million have been given to the families of the crash victims while Rs0.5 million were provided to those injured in the crash," the minister mentioned.

Ghulam Sarwar said the houses that were damaged due to the crash incident will be rebuilt and compensation will be paid to the owners.

He said that the French team has taken the voice recorder and black box to decode them. However, the it would take at least four to six months for completion of the probe.
