Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a special committee for price control and monitoring Ramazan package in Faisalabad during the holy month of Ramazan.
DCO Faisalabad Saeed Wahlah has been appointed convenor and other members include MNA Abid Sher Ali, MPAs Rai Ejaz Hussain, Rao Kashif Rahim, Kh Muhammad Islam, Major Abdul Rehman Rana, CPO Faisalabad Muhammad Tahir, DO Revenue Musarrat Jabeen, DO Livestock Dr Abdul Rehman, DO Social Welfare Chaudhry Ashraf, DFC Ameer Ali Monga, DO Labour, all DDOs and TMOs of the respective tehsils, Secretary Market Committees, Presidents Fruits and Vegetable Market, Grain Market and Poultry Association.
The committee would ensure supply of essential commodities in sufficient quantity in the open market in general and in the Ramazan Bazaars and at fair price shops in particular. It would ensure the sale of food stuff and essential items at rates fixed under the Punjab Food Stuff Act 1958 or Price Control and prevention of profiteering and hoarding act 1977. It would also make certain that rate cards/rate lists are displayed at conspicuous places in the bazaars. The monitoring committee would also make sure transparent sale of atta at subsidised rates at designated points. The committee has also been assigned the task of ensuring required supplies of subsidised atta by the flour mills and for this purpose it would conduct surprise visit to the flour mills.
It has also been asked to guarantee the setting up of required number of fair price shops in the district. Moreover it would identify the most suitable trucking points for sale of atta besides ensuring the availability of ghee and sugar at the agreed price.
The committee would also make certain the security and proper cleanliness of Ramazan Bazaars. The convenor DCO Saeed Wahlah said that the committee would extend all possible help to facilitate the 50 Ramazan Dastarkhwan already established by the district administration and would make sure regularity and quality of the said Ramazan Dastarkhawans.
