Dr Khurram Anwar Khwaja has been elected as Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMEA) (North Zone) in election 2009/ 2010 of the Association, while Naeem Ahmed from Faisalabad elected as Vice Chairman of the Association.
The newly elected Chairman Dr Khurram Anwar Khawaja has expressed concern over the closure of a number of knitwear units over the past few years resulting mass unemployment.
He said that a large capacity was lying unutilised due to inability of the industry to execute export orders owing to negative factors. He said that revival of industry could solve economic woes of poor masses by providing more jobs to the youths. Dr Khurram said called for adopting new technical and managerial skills to enhance productivity and to improve the quality of products for sustained growth in the global scenario.
