Asian Development Bank will provide $400 million for Punjab Cities Improvement Investment Programme during 2010 to improve living standards of people, municipal environment and public health for an estimated six million residents across larger intermediate cities of Punjab, ADB's update project reports said.
The report said that $200 million would be provided from Ordinary Capital Resources, while $200 million would be provided from Asian Development Fund.
ADB initially provided $1.4 million Technical Assistance from its Special Fund and Water Financing Facility-Multi donor to prepare a programme for improvement of governance and management of basic urban services, while to relieve infrastructure deficits constraining urban services delivery. Under this project ADB and Punjab Government will launch public-private partnerships to incentivize better urban service delivery and to benefit women through improved access to, and quality and reliability of, household water supply and community sanitation.
