Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), keeping aside political intervention, would continue to work for bringing back peace to the city. This was stated by Qadir Patel, Chairman, National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior in a press briefing at Central Police Office on Wednesday.
He said the Sindh Police has provided data about incidents of targeted killings. Praising efforts of the police department, he said the data also indicates ratio of crime in every town and police station. He said the standing committee would review the provided data for devising strategy to bring peace back to the city.
"Criminal is criminal and he has no political affiliation," Patel said while responding to a question. He said the administration would provide resources to the police department for coping-up with the criminal elements.
He said the committee also held meeting at Pakistan Rangers Sindh Headquarter on early Wednesday to discuss ongoing spate of target killings of political and ethnic groups. He also praised support of Pakistan Ranger to Sindh Police for bringing peace in the city.
He said the committee has decided to reward families of those police jawans, who had lost their lives during performing their duties. The committee urged to provide jobs to the relatives of these jawans in police department, they added.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Waseem Akhtar said police have arrested some criminals, who were said to be involved in target killings in the city. However, the detail of the arrested people could not be disclosed till completion of the probe, he said.
Bushra Gohar from Awami National Party (ANP), Roshan Junejo from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Mehmood Virq from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were also present on this occasion.
