Taiwan stocks recorded their worst single-day percentage slide in a month on Thursday, weighed by banks including Chinatrust Financial, as investors continued to worry that Europe's debt crisis could unleash financial chaos. The main TAIEX index fell 1.82 percent or 138.14 points to 7,460.31, its biggest one-day percentage decline since a 2.93 percent slump on October 3.
Banking and auto were worst hit, dropping 3.14 percent and 2.23 percent, respectively. Among the most actively traded, Chinatrust, Taiwan's largest credit card issuer, fell nearly 5 percent. It holds its quarterly investor conference later on Thursday.
