“The legal fraternity has particularly noted that the Federal Government remains ever willing to let down the provincial government on one pretest or another which is disapproved.”

Sindh Bar Council (SBC) on Thursday termed Sindh Police’s act of forcefully arresting Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader retired Captain Safdar from a private hotel as unethical and against culture, religion and law.

In a press release, which was jointly issued by Vice-Chairman Abdi Saqi, President Supreme Court Bar Association Syed Qalb-i-Hassan and Chairman Executive Committee Pakistan Bar Council Azam Nazeer Tarar, said they have taken strong exception to the reported abduction of Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh from his residence and then was forced to arrest PML-N leader.

“The legal fraternity has particularly noted that the Federal Government remains ever willing to let down the provincial government on one pretext or another which is disapproved.”

Commenting on Safdar's arrest, they said such crude and illegal action in which the privacy of a female leader of opposition has been violated, which is against the religion, law and culture.

Furthermore, they said, “Such unconstitutional and pursuits of the establishment if allowed to go unchecked, would pose a serious threat, not only to the democratic system of government presently in vogue, but also to the rule of law, the judicial system and constitutionalism.”
