Sri Lanka shares end lower as communication services, financials drag

Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Thursday, falling for a third straight session, dragged down by losses in communication services and financials stocks.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.74% lower at 10,536.33.

LOLC Finance and Dialog Axiata were the top losers on the index, down 2.1% and 3.1%, respectively.

Trading volume on the index fell to 30.4 million shares from 56.9 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover fell to 891.3 million Sri Lankan rupees ($2.73 million) from 920.3 million rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 186.2 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 840.4 million rupees, the data showed.
