Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Thursday, aided by energy and consumer discretionary stocks.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.29% higher at 11,439.70, snapping a five-session losing streak.

Harischandra Mills and Lanka Ashok Leyland were the top gainers on the index, up 2.3% and 9.3%, respectively.

Sri Lanka shares end lower as industrials, healthcare drag

Trading volume on the index fell to 25 million shares from 197.7 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover fell to 756.8 million Sri Lankan rupees ($2.5 million) from 3.97 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 70.7 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 708.2 million rupees, the data showed.
