Financials, communication services boost Sri Lankan shares

Sri Lankan shares extended rally and closed higher for the 22nd straight session on Thursday, buoyed by financials and communication services stocks.
The CSE All-Share index ended 1.53% higher at 15,400.53, marking its longest gaining streak in at least two years, per LSEG data.
The index has hit record highs every day since December 5.
Nation Lanka Finance and Industrial Asphalts were the top percentage gainers on the benchmark index, rising 50% and 25%, respectively.
Trading volume on the index rose to 534.5 million shares from 285.5 million shares in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover jumped to 7.04 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($23.95 million) from 5.48 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 177.2 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 6.88 billion rupees, the data showed.
